Anthony Norris - Principal

Mr. Anthony Norris is a dedicated educator and school leader with more than 20 years of experience. He began his career as a teacher at the Karns Annex Alternative Program in 2000 and later taught at South Doyle High School from 2002 to 2014. He went on to serve as Assistant Principal at Farragut High School from 2014 to 2019. Since 2019, he has served as Principal of South Doyle Middle School, where he is committed to fostering a culture of belonging, academic growth, and student well-being.

Mr. Norris holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.

Guided by the motto “Be a KEE,” Mr. Norris is committed to fostering a culture where students feel a true sense of belonging, experience academic growth, and thrive socially through active engagement in both learning and the overall school experience.

Mark Labig - 6th Grade Assistant Principal

Mr. Mark Labig is an experienced educator and school leader with a strong background in science instruction and instructional coaching. He began his career in 2010 as a Biology and Zoology teacher at Jefferson County High School, where he taught for twelve years. From 2020 to 2022, he also served as an Instructional Coach, supporting teachers in their professional growth and classroom practice. Since 2022, he has served as the 6th Grade Assistant Principal at South Doyle Middle School.

Mr. Labig holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Wright State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Carson-Newman University, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Tennessee State University.

As an administrator, Mr. Labig is committed to serving teachers in ways that enable them to perform at the highest level, while nurturing a school culture where students and staff feel cared for, seen, and heard.

Patrick Miller - 6th Grade Assistant Administrator & Athletic Director

Mr. Patrick Miller is a dedicated educator and school leader with more than 15 years of experience in teaching and athletics. He began his career in 2007 as a Math Teacher in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, where he served for ten years. From 2017 to 2019, he taught mathematics and served as Athletic Director at Clarksville Academy before returning to Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools in the same dual role from 2019 to 2022. In 2022, he joined South Doyle Middle School as Assistant Administrator and Athletic Director, where he currently serves the 6th grade team and oversees athletics.

Mr. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a master’s degree in Education from Austin Peay State University. He also earned an Educational Specialist degree in Principalship from Arkansas State University.

As an administrator, Mr. Miller is committed to ensuring that every student feels seen, secure, and supported each day. He strives to foster a positive school culture of belonging, well-being, and engagement while supporting staff in achieving school goals.

Kim Maples - 7th Grade Assistant Principal

Ms. Kim Maples is a dedicated educator and school leader with more than two decades of experience serving Knox County Schools. She began her career in 2001 as a Teacher Assistant at Fulton High School before moving to Richard Yoakley Alternative School in 2003. Over the course of 19 years, she served as a Special Education Teacher, Lead Teacher, and Administrative Assistant, gaining extensive experience in supporting diverse learners and leading instructional initiatives.

In 2022, Ms. Maples transitioned into school administration as Assistant Principal at Vine Middle Magnet School, where she served until 2024. She then served as Assistant Principal at West High School from 2024 to 2025. In 2025, she joined South Doyle Middle School as the 7th Grade Assistant Principal, where she continues her commitment to student success and positive school culture.

Ms. Maples holds an associate’s degree from Pellissippi State Community College, a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University. She also earned an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University and holds certifications in Special Education Modified K-12 and Instructional Leadership.

As an administrator, Ms. Maples is passionate about servant leadership, being fully present in classrooms, hallways, and throughout the school. She is committed to fostering student success, supporting staff development, and cultivating a positive and engaging school culture.

Dr. Tonia Johnson - 7th Grade Assistant Administrator

Dr. Tonia Johnson is an experienced educator and school leader with nearly two decades of teaching and administrative experience. She began her career in 2004 as a Physical Science Teacher at Alcoa High School, where she taught for more than a decade. In 2018, she taught Science at Sebastian River Middle School before joining South Doyle Middle School in 2019 as a Science and Physical Science Teacher. In 2023, she transitioned into school leadership as Assistant Administrator at South Doyle Middle School, where she currently serves.

Dr. Johnson holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University, a master’s degree in Science Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a master’s degree in Human Performance and Sports Studies with a concentration in Exercise Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Athletic Training from Carson-Newman University.

As an administrator at South Doyle Middle School, Dr. Johnson is focused on fostering a positive and collaborative environment that empowers teachers to grow as leaders and creates meaningful learning opportunities for students.

Aaron Maples - 8th Grade Assistant Principal

Mr. Aaron Maples is an experienced educator and school leader with a diverse background in teaching mathematics and curriculum leadership. He began his teaching career in 2005 at South-Doyle High School and went on to teach at Seymour High School and Washington High School in North Carolina. From 2011 to 2015, he also served as an adjunct instructor at Pitt Community College in North Carolina and Western Kentucky University. In 2013, he joined Warren Central High School in Kentucky, teaching mathematics and later serving as Curriculum Coordinator until 2018.

Mr. Maples returned to Knox County Schools in 2018 as a math teacher at South-Doyle Middle School, where he continued teaching through 2019. He now serves as the 8th Grade Assistant Principal at South-Doyle Middle School, where his leadership is grounded in building intentional relationships and setting consistent expectations to support student growth and success.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management and a master’s degree in Teacher Education with a specialization in Math Education, both from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He also earned an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee Technological University.

As an administrator, Mr. Maples is dedicated to fostering a supportive and structured learning environment where students feel cared for and challenged to achieve their best.

Dr. Julia Roper-Walker - 8th Grade Dean of Students

Dr. Julia Roper-Walker is a passionate educator and school leader with more than 15 years of experience in teaching and student support. She began her career in 2009 at Vine Middle School, where she taught Novel Studies and 6th Grade Science and served as AVID Coordinator until 2013. She then taught English Language Arts and 6th Grade Social Studies at Eagleton College and Career Academy from 2013 to 2024. In 2024, she joined South Doyle Middle School as the 8th Grade Dean of Students.

Dr. Roper-Walker holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Child Development from Maryville College, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Bethel University, and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University.

As Dean of Students, Dr. Roper-Walker is committed to supporting the mission and vision of South Doyle Middle School and building a learning community and culture where students succeed far beyond their expectations.

Katye Clemmons - Instructional & Related Arts Assistant Principal

Mrs. Katye Clemmons is a veteran educator and school leader with more than 30 years of experience in education. She began her career in 1990 as a substitute teacher in Knox County Schools before moving into classroom teaching. From 1996 to 1997, she taught Language Arts and Reading at Bearden Middle School, followed by twelve years at Gresham Middle School, where she taught both 7th and 8th Grade Reading and Language Arts.

Mrs. Clemmons transitioned into administration in 2009 as Assistant Principal at Carter Middle School, serving as 8th Grade and Special Education Lead Principal until 2013. She then served at Karns Middle School from 2013 to 2018, where she led 7th and 8th grades and Special Education. Since 2018, she has served as Assistant Principal at South Doyle Middle School, first as 8th Grade Lead Principal and currently as the Instructional & Related Arts Assistant Principal.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Management and Medical Services Management and a master’s degree in Education from Carson-Newman College. She also earned an Educational Specialist degree in Supervision and Administration from Lincoln Memorial University.

As an administrator, Mrs. Clemmons is committed to servant leadership. Her goal is to champion staff, students, and families; to support her administrative team through coaching and collaboration; to equip teachers with the tools they need to best serve students; and to empower students with a voice and the skills to thrive as KEEs in their community.
